Controlling Devices
Every tile responds to touch based on what kind of device it is.
{/* video: tapping different tile types */}
The Basics
Section titled “The Basics”Tap — The primary action. Toggles devices, activates scenes, runs scripts. You can add a confirmation prompt to any tile in the editor for safety — useful for garage doors, locks, or anything you don’t want triggered by accident.
Double-tap — Opens detailed controls with sliders, pickers, and options built for the watch. Most people use their finger on the sliders, but you can also use the Digital Crown for fine adjustments.
Long-press — Opens a quick action menu if configured, otherwise opens the control view.
Double-tap and hold — Brings up a quick menu anywhere on the control view.
(Tap and double-tap can be swapped in Settings → Interaction.)
After tapping, the tile animates while waiting for the server — if Pending Animation is turned on. If the server doesn’t respond in a few seconds, it reverts and you feel a failure haptic.
Lights
Section titled “Lights”The control view adapts to your bulb — a simple on/off bulb gets a brightness slider, a full-color bulb gets everything:
- Brightness — Arc slider, 0–100%
- Color temperature — Warm to cool
- RGB color — A color wheel with 12 zones
- Effects — Whatever your bulb supports (candle, strobe, color loop, and more)

Climate
Section titled “Climate”Shows only what your thermostat supports:
- Temperature — Arc slider within your configured range
- Dual setpoints — Separate heat/cool targets for auto mode
- Mode — Heat, Cool, Auto, Fan Only, Off
- Fan and presets — When available

Tap toggles lock/unlock. Double-tap opens the lock control — slide to unlock when locked, tap Lock when unlocked. The slide gesture prevents accidental unlocks from wrist bumps.

Media Players
Section titled “Media Players”Volume slider, play/pause/skip, shuffle and repeat, source selection (HDMI, Bluetooth, AirPlay), sound mode, and now-playing info. Use the Digital Crown for precise volume adjustments.
Covers
Section titled “Covers”Blinds, curtains, garage doors, gates. Position slider from closed to open, tilt control for venetian blinds, stop button for mid-movement. Valves use the same controls.
Cameras
Section titled “Cameras”Camera tiles show preview snapshots — pull to refresh to update them. Tap for a full-screen live stream. Use bigger tile sizes (2x1 or 2x2) to actually see the preview. More at Cameras.
Sensors
Section titled “Sensors”Tap for a history graph — min, max, and current values over time. Works for both regular sensors and binary sensors.
